Day 7: Daily Democracy Challenge (39 Days 'til Election)

It's Day 7 of The Rabble podcast's Daily Democracy Challenge, where we count down 46 days of impactful-yet-achievable action items to flip Texas and elect our 46th president.

Only 39 more days until the election! And since today is Becky's 40th birthday, our action item is to do her very most favorite thing: be an election worker.

TODAY'S ACTION:

Why be an election worker? Most of the folks who usually staff the polls are older and therefore at higher risk for COVID, so many of them are opting out this year. Not enough poll workers means polling locations might close... which would mean looooong lines on election day. There is also a critical need for mail-in ballot sorters. To sign up, you can submit an application directly with your county clerk's office. Google "your county" and elections to find the forms to submit. Or try https://powerthepolls.com/! DON'T WORRY if you don't hear back for a while -- they are REAL busy.

If you want to get extra training on working the election or if you'd like to find out more about opportunities to fight voter suppression, the Texas Civil Rights Project is on top of it at https://texasvoterprotection.org/ -- click on "Volunteer."

Thank you for helping Becky celebrate her big birthday by werking the poll!

And we can't wait to see you live in the chat this Sunday, 9/27 at 5pm for our "The Rabble, In The House: What the healthcare?!" episode: https://www.facebook.com/events/352607089144490
