EPISODE 39 - "Politics Is Personal" Series: Abie Ikhinmwin on finding herself homeless in Austin
Welcome to a special “Politics Is Personal” episode. We're sharing the stories of our favorite Texas activists and what happens when normals like us are compelled to "do more than nothing."
On this episode, we talk with community advocate Abie Ikhinmwin, who shares her experience as an Austinite who found herself homeless. There have been a lot of conversations locally and nationally lately about the topic of homelessness, but not enough of those conversations have included the true experts... people who have experienced homelessness. We are so grateful to Abie for sharing her story and wish her good luck on her LSATs!
Don’t worry, we'll go back to our usual format, and "Political F*ck Marry Kill" will be back in a couple weeks!

According to Austin’s Chief Equity Officer, Brion Oaks, roughly 40% of ATX’s homeless population is black, but only 6% of ATX’s total population is black.
Help end homelessness! Call US Congressman Chip Roy to support HR 1856, a bill sponsored by Maxine Waters of California (yes, Auntie Maxine!). HR 1856 would bring federal funding to cities to support the challenge of homelessness.
